Lapis Lazuli, Stone of Kings

Lapis Lazuli is a very sought after stone for it's deep blue hue. Historically found in the mountains of Afghanistan, merchants would travel for miles to acquire the much sought after blue stone. Not only was it fashioned into jewelry, and other ritual items, but it was believed to be a source of great calming, and confidence boosting. Thus is was a prized stone by many figures of royalty or power.

If you need a stone to keep your head about you in a difficult situation, then this is the one for you. Blue has always been a calming color, and the deep blue of lapis seems to hold true to this notion. For it's natural aid in mental clarity it is often worn by those who suffer from the symptoms of ADHD, especially in children. This can also help you to see deeper emotional issue more clearly, good for when it is time to work through something that is blocking you, mentally and spiritually.

Citrine, The Money Stone

Citrine is a yellow hued stone that can be naturally heated from quartz or manmade by artificially heating quartz crystals. Citrine is related to amethyst as it is also a type of quartz. True citrine grows in clusters like quartz and is quite rare to find naturally. I find that artificial citrine has the same effects that natural citrine does.

It is known as the money stone because it is believed to bring wealth and prosperity into your life. Looking for success in a new business? Then citrine is the stone for you. It can also bring about a sense of mental clarity when relating to money, or making big financial decisions.

Rose Quart, The Stone of Love!

Rose quartz is a type of quartz that has a lovely pink hue. There is still debate about what causes this stone to be pink in the first place. Some say that there are inclusions of another element, and others say that it is due to heating, like amethyst and citrine. Even unknown Rose Quartz is the perfect stone for healing the heart chakra. It is known to open up the channels of love. 

This can be any type of love. Romantic love for your partner, love of a sibling, or child, or even the love of oneself. If you feel that you need your heart to be more open and receptive to feelings of love or also to lower ones stress levels, then this is the stone for you.

Moonstone, the Womens Stone

Moonstone is a naturally gray/white stone with a slight pearlescent sheen that brings to mind the late night shine of moon. The moon has long been associated with women, making moonstone the best stone for the female gender. Tonight is the full moon, making these stones extra powerful this evening!

Moonstone is a calming stone, it is known to help with childbearing and childbirth. I wore these stones while in labor with my son, and always gift these to new mothers. They can also help with the menstrual cycle and the uncomfortable symptoms associated with it.

Larimar, Stone of Atlantis

Larimar is a fairly recently discovered stone, found along the coastal regions. It's blue, grey and white colors invoke the ocean as well. It's is believed to come from the lost city of Atlantis, and as such it holds all the knowledge of the ancient city. Need to connect with your higherself? Looking for answers that just won't seem to come? Larimar is the stone for you.

It is a calming stone and instills a sense of peace in the wearer. Something about blue just seems to calm the mind. This is a very peaceful crystal healer as well as a soothing bedtime companion. It offers peaceful dreams or no dreams at all. :-)

Peridot, Stone from Space!

Peridot is a powerful stone that vibrates with energy. While it is found naturally on Earth it is the only known gemstone to come to the Earth on meteors in the form of olivine.

Peridot is a stone of the heart, and can help to open this organ when blocked. It is also known to be a visionary stone, to help us see the path ahead of us. You can feel the vibrations in these stones when held, and when worn with prehnite can bring prophetic dreams.

Peridot is one of my person favorites due to its power and beautiful green color.

Amethyst, Legendary Healing

Amethyst has been sought for centuries for it's deep purple color and ability to soothe both the mind, body and spirit. Historically amethyst has been worth as much as diamonds to some peoples. Traditionally it is the birthstone of February and has always been associated with this month. Amethyst is a type of quartz and grows much the same, in clusters, and geodes, and gets it's purple color from the inclusion of manganese in the quartz.

In crystal healing amethyst probably has the most uses of any stone. It is believed to help with intoxication and sobriety, as well as being able to clear the mind. It can be mixed in an elixir of water and consumed to give the effects of the stone internally. I have found that amethyst helps with migraines, as well as to help you meditate. This is a great all around healing stone, as well as one of the most beautiful types of stones that exist.

Opals, Cursed or Blessed?

Historically opals have either been believed to be a stone of great prosperity, or an ill omen of bad tidings to come. It is up to the wearer to decide how they feel about opals. I was born in October, on Halloween to be exact, and I have an effinity for opals. This is October's birth stone.

Green opals specifically tend to offer spiritual and mental clarity. This is a great stone for unblocking what is holding you back and helping you to see what can be. They also make a beautiful stone.

Prehnite, The Stone of Prophecy

Prehnite is known as the stone of prophecy. It I intended to help you communicate with higher beings. Helps you to elevate your way of thinking beyond what you can see and experience with your five senses. I wear the prehnite bracelets available in my shop at night and will have vivid, sometimes prophetic dreams.

Phrenite is a mottled green stone that evokes a powerful connection to another world. This particular necklace is a phrenite stone pendant, with prehnite beads. 23 inches in diameter and it hangs 14 inches down with the crystal.

Agate, Ancient Adornment

Agates are a type of chalcedony in the quartz family, and is known for its multitude of colors and banding. There are many types of agates and they can range in many different colors. Making them a great healing stone. Historically they have been found in adornments and ritual items all the way back to Babylon. It was believed to be a stone of power. As the delicate looking bands are deceptively strong. It is also known to help balance the yin and yang.

Tiger's Eye, The Strength Stone

Tiger's eye, sometimes called the Iron Tiger, is a great stone for men in my opinion. It is a stone of strength, and virility. It is known historically to bring good luck to the wearer, and has the power to focus the mind on minute details. This has made it great for wearing into battle in the past. It is known to release tension, bolster confidence, and fill us with sheer willpower.

Tiger's eye is in the quartz family and the golden color comes from bands of golden asbestos in the stone. Don't worry it is perfectly safe. This is a great stone to wear into the interview for a new job, or in any situation where you need that extra boost of confidence. If you are going through difficult times, physically, spiritually, or emotionally, then this is the stone for you.

Gold Rutilated Quartz, The Let it Go Stone

Golden rutilated quartz is great for mental clarity and overall physical healing. It includes the properties of both quartz and the titanium dioxide inclusions that thread within. The threads reflect gold light, this the name gold rutilated quartz. I find this is the best stone for moving on from that which is holding you back. It is a great stone for mental clarity, which can clear the negative fog in your mind and help you make better decisions.

Garnet, the Restoration Stone

The word Garnet is believed to be derived from the word for the pomegranate seed. This is easy to understand as the garnet is a deep red stone. Though it can come in many different colors, the deep red is the most sought after color.

In crystal healing garnets are known for their revitalizing energies. I find that mostly they are good for diseases of the blood and immune system. I have a dear friend who suffers from diabetes and swears by her garnets to help keep the symptoms at bay. Though it is also known to help with symptoms of ADHD and acid reflux. Emotionally garnets are known to help relieve depression and elevate the wearer's way of seeing the world.

Tourmaline, Balance Stone

Tourmaline is a wonderful stone that come sin many colors and can have multiple colors in one crystal. Watermelon tourmaline specifically is a pink and green color, often in one stone, thus the watermelon resemblance. This stone works with the heart chakra and helps to  connect you with opposing energies. It can cleanse the chakras and remove imbalances. And as such it is known for its ability to balance the soul.

It is known to remove insecurities and unite the male and female halves of a person. This is a great stone to get in touch with yourself.

Labradorite, the Frozen Aurora Borealis

The Inuit people believe that Labradorite is the Aurora Borealis, frozen in stone. It is easy to see why someone would believe this. This beautiful stone comes in a great variety of colors, and often times those colors all come in one stone. I love working with Labradorite because it is a stone that can help ease the problems that arise with change. It is known to grant strength, and perseverance, and as such is a great healing stone.

My husband and I love making these flashy cabochons into beautiful pendants. I call the one below, "The Monarch Wing" due to the resemblance I believe it shares with the butterfly wing pattern.
