Labradorite, the Frozen Aurora Borealis

The Inuit people believe that Labradorite is the Aurora Borealis, frozen in stone. It is easy to see why someone would believe this. This beautiful stone comes in a great variety of colors, and often times those colors all come in one stone. I love working with Labradorite because it is a stone that can help ease the problems that arise with change. It is known to grant strength, and perseverance, and as such is a great healing stone.

My husband and I love making these flashy cabochons into beautiful pendants. I call the one below, "The Monarch Wing" due to the resemblance I believe it shares with the butterfly wing pattern.
